Oy! Thanks for posting this I've been fighting this for about a month now! I don't know how it switched but I'm sure glad I was able to set it back.

I've had this same problem, BUT IT IS RECURRING. After changing the default browser using Safari's Preferences panel, a few days later I was again getting links in MobileSafari, and it immediately crashing.
